Legal Assistant - Workers Compensation
Location: Fully Remote
Salary Range: $55,000 - $70,000 (Depending on Experience)
Experience Level: 3 years minimum to over 5 years of experience handling Workers Compensation cases. Experience coordinating QMEs and AMEs highly desired. Dictation experience a huge plus.
Well established Workers' Compensation Defense Law Firm with offices throughout the state of California is seeking an experienced and highly organized Legal Assistant to join their remote team. Preference will be given to applicants with prior long term employment history. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years to over 5 years of hands-on experience in handling Workers Compensation cases, with a strong preference for candidates who possess hands-on experience with Qualified Medical Evaluations (QMEs) and Agreed Medical Evaluations (AMEs).
Responsibilities:
Case Management: Handle Workers Compensation cases from inception to closure, ensuring all relevant documentation is accurately filed and maintained.
QMEs and AMEs: Assist in the coordination and management of Qualified Medical Evaluations (QMEs) and Agreed Medical Evaluations (AMEs).
Document Preparation: Draft, review, and proofread legal documents, correspondence, and pleadings related to Workers Compensation cases.
Communication: Maintain regular communication with clients, opposing counsel, and medical professionals to gather necessary information and updates.
Calendar Management: Keep track of critical case deadlines, hearings, and appointments, ensuring all are met in a timely manner.
File Organization: Maintain an organized electronic filing system for case documents, ensuring easy retrieval of information.
Support Attorneys: Provide administrative support to attorneys, including legal research, document organization, and preparation for hearings.
Qualifications:
Minimum 3 to over 5 years of experience as a Legal Assistant handling Workers Compensation cases.
Familiarity with the processes of Qualified Medical Evaluations (QMEs) and Agreed Medical Evaluations (AMEs).
Highly organized with the ability to manage high volumes of cases simultaneously.
Detail-oriented and capable of maintaining accuracy in legal document preparation.
Responsive and able to communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and internal team members.
Proficient in legal software and Microsoft Office Suite.
